“Visually, the paintings presented a paradoxical riddle; on one hand the process was planned and ordered, while on the other it was unpredictable and precarious in areas”

 Sarah Wren Wilson (2022)

As an artist, my work explores change and uncertainty in our lives by allowing the viewer to feel like they are returning to childhood, offering a sense of play, healing and nostalgia. Inspired by the surreal and colourful world of children’s visual media, my abstract paintings are bold and intuitive, aiming to capture the joy and wonder of seeing the world with fresh eyes.

While painting is the central medium in my work, I find ways to bring playfulness and engagement into the experience through tactile engagement. I have created artist books from deconstructed studies, encouraging viewers to interact with the work and spend time with it. My large-scale paintings extend beyond the canvas, as if continuing into an unseen world, to enhance the themes of imagination and transformation.

My painting process is largely intuitive; painting becomes a flow state for me, where colors and forms emerge naturally. Inspired by Sarah Wren Wilson’s approach to transparency and thought, my work invites viewers into a space that feels both familiar and liminal, a playful escape where nostalgia and safety are provoked.
