Reflective practice is cyclical in nature and allows teachers to continuously improve and refine their methods for more effective teaching. By critically examining my planning, teaching and assessment I can ensure my teaching supports both student learning and my own professional development.

'Critically reflective teaching happens when we identify and scrutinize the assumptions that shape our practice'

(Brookfield, 2017)

School Placement 2 - Reflective Padlet

My reflective Padlet shows, through visual documentation and written statements a critical reflection of each unit of learning completed on school placement 2. It demonstrates my engagement with reflective practices and an ability to review lesson plans and units of learning to inform and develop my teaching practice going forward.

Sample Weekly Reflection

All of my teaching practice reflections have been done using Brookfield’s Four Lenses — 1. the Self, 2. Colleagues, 3. Students and 4. Theory. Brookfield ascertains that by examining the world through these lenses, we can gain a fuller and more informed view of it.
